Thomas L. Short “Tommy”, 78, died Saturday, June 27, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Shirley G. (Palazzolo) Short. They celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary on June 2nd.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late James E. and Helen M. (Kenney) Short.

He resided in Warwick for 69 years and moved to Charleston, South Carolina, then Wolfeboro, New Hampshire after his retirement. He was a welder for 25 years with Greco Brothers. He later worked for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier at the West Warwick Post Office until his retirement. He was a Vietnam War veteran, served with the US Air Force. A true family man, he was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a nickname for all of his grandchildren and was always available for advice. He loved the outdoors, gardening, walking, playing golf and softball.

He was the beloved father of Thomas J. (Cheryl) Short, Colleen M. (Robert) Jordan, Gary T. (Noreen) Short, and Tonya E. (Thomas) Jordan; grandfather of Jacqueline Anderson, Haylee Short, Kalin Jordan, Tyler Jordan, Catrina Jordan, Aaron Jordan, Caleb Short, Bella Rose Short, Carter Jordan, and Roman Jordan; great-grandfather of Collin and Bradley Toole; brother of James Short, Marylin Greene, the late Elizabeth “Betty Ann” Melikian, and Janice Robinson.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2020 from 4-8 PM in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Social distancing will be observed. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10 AM in St. Kevin Church, Sandy Lane. A private Burial with military honors will be held at the RI Veterans Memorial
Cemetery, Exeter.
