Bobby Gene Pittman, 71, of Beloit, Wisconsin, passed away at his home in Beloit on Wednesday, June 24, 2020. Bobby was born on March 28, 1949 in Texarkana, Arkansas, to William Faye and Betty Lou Pittman.

On August 25, 1973, he married his wife, Elizabeth, and together they had 2 children. Bob was a born peacekeeper and became a police officer in 1986. During his nearly 20 year career, he served as a member of the SWAT team, was part of an undercover unit, taught as a firearms instructor, and acted as a Crime Scene Investigator. He retired from the Beloit Police Department in 2004 in order to help serve his country by working as a contractor in the Middle East. In 2004, he went to Iraq to train Iraqi police and helped to train Baghdad’s first SWAT team. After his Iraq tour, it didn’t take long for him to get the itch and deploy to Afghanistan in the similar role in 2006.

Bobby enjoyed hunting, metal-detecting (AKA “dirt-fishing”), shooting, and making people laugh. He was well-loved by his friends and family, and was a staple in his community. He always held a positive outlook on life, and those who knew him could always expect him to have a smile on his face and cracking jokes.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Pittman, his two children, Eric and Amy Pittman, and two grandchildren, Aidan and Amaya Sanwick.
