JOHN MATHIAS DINTEEMAN, an agriculturist of Walkersville District, resides on the farm which was the home of his grandfather. He was born January 15, 1857, and is the third son of George H. Dinterman. He is a grandson of George Dinterman. (See the sketch of his father for the family history.) Mr. Dinterman acquired his education in the public schools at Cabbage Eun, Liberty, Copper Mines, Walkersville and Mount Pleasant. His father was a renter and moved about, which accounts for the frequent changes in his school attendance. His birthplace was near Walkersville, and he was with his father until he attained his majority. He then began to make his own way in the world, hiring out for $125 per year. He thus got a start by economy and good management, saving $200 in two years. In 1881 he was married, and bought a home. For the succeeding two years, he worked by the day. Mr. Dinterman then secured possession of the old family home in Walkersville District. This place consists of 100 acres of fertile land, and yields large crops. In 1900, he erected a new home, and at the same time another barn, the latter's dimensions being 46x68 feet. Mr. Dintemian's success is well merited, for he has made his own way by industry and perseverance.

In politics, Mr. Dinterman takes allegiance with the Republican party. He is a member of the United Brethren Church at Mount Vernon in which he is active and is a steward. Mr. Dinterman was married December 25, 1881, to Anna R. Etzler, daughter of Daniel Etzler, who was a member of a well-known and highly respected family of Frederick County. Mrs. Dinterman is a most estimable woman, and is the mother of two children: Etta May, is the wife of William Barton, by whom she has one child, Russell; and Clyde Atwell, who is assisting his father on the farm.
