A life well lived - Peter Logan White, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, after a short illness and a long, eventful life.
Peter, born May 19, 1926, in Philadelphia, Pa., was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, World War II veteran, avid golfer, world traveler, master carpenter, a mostly-pro gardener, Scottish enthusiast, a banker, a coach and a mentor to many people – all while making lifelong friendships along the way.
Peter married the love of his life Patricia Starrett Lee in November of 1950. Peter and Pat were married for 67 years and lived in their Brownfield home for the last three decades. Peter was a relationship person at the core. He loved to head to the post office or corner store to pick up a few newspapers - but mostly for a chance to interact with the community that he loved - a community that loved him back.
Peter went to the Westtown School in Westtown, Pa., before enlisting in the Army in 1944, where he served with the OSS in India. Following the war, he attended the University of Arizona and graduated in 1950. He was commissioned an officer in the regular Army and served until 1958. Following this, he moved to graduate school at the Thunderbird School of Global Management, which led to a lifelong career as a commercial banker for the First National Bank of Boston, focused on international business. He performed his corporate officer duties in Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, the United States and Cameroon.
Peter was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6783 in Lovell, where he served as Quartermaster for years. He was a selectman for the town of Brownfield and a member of the Economic Council of North Conway.
Don Pedro is survived by his wife Pat; daughter Patricia and her husband, John; son Alexis and his wife, Monica; daughter Sonia and her husband, José; daughter-in-law Cindy; 6 grandsons: Donovan, Logan, Michael, Kevin, Stephen, and Christopher; granddaughter Alexa; and 3 great grandsons: Grant, Braiden, and Fintan. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott, in 2008 and his brother, Pat, in 2016.
