Mickey was born in Turtle Creek, PA on April 5, 1927 and moved to her heavenly home June 16, 2020. Mickey was the youngest of 3 girls born to John George and Emma McDowell. After her mother died, her father was unable to take care of the girls due to being gassed during World War I. So at 6 years old, Mickey and her sisters were sent to the Scotland School for Veterans Children where they received a stellar education. After graduating she enrolled in the Pennsylvania School of Nursing where she received her RN degree in 1950. In 1952 Mickey joined the Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant working as a surgical nurse stationed in Smyrna, TN. The doctors in the operating room started calling her Mic, short for McDowell, and she soon became known as Mickey. While in the Air Force Mickey met Hearl "Ben" Benton Davis, Jr. and they were married in Nashville in 1953. Mickey and Ben were blessed with a son and daughter. Ben's job took them to several different cities but they finally moved back to Nashville in 1973. Mickey worked at Baptist Hospital until her children were out of college. Mickey loved to dance, play bridge, travel, and do crossword puzzles (in ink!). She was active in various Home Demonstration clubs and bridge clubs.

Mickey is predeceased by her parents, sister Helen Whitebread, sister Betty Mancuso and grandson Dustin Prentice. Mickey is survived by her husband Hearl "Ben" Benton Davis, Jr., son Hearl "Ben" Benton Davis, III (Beth), daughter Helen "Betty" Elizabeth Prentice (Rick), 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Friday, July 3 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Brenthaven Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 516 Franklin Rd, Brentwood, TN with a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. Graveside service with military honors by the Air Force Honor Guard will follow at Highland Cemetery in Sparta, TN at 3:00pm.
