Robert H. Sell, 80, of Aledo, IL, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Genesis Senior Living in Aledo.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, June 15, at Nichols Bewley Funeral and Cremation Services, Aledo. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, June 14, at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the Robert Sell Memorial Fund. Robert was born April 25, 1939, in Muscatine, IA, the son of Donald and Mabel Christianson Sell.
He was a graduate of Joy High School. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves from December of 1957 until he was honorably discharged in January of 1964. Robert married Myrna Buckley on October 5, 1958, at Mulford Congregational Church in Muscatine. He was employed by the Eliza Feed Mill and Taylor Ridge Agri Business Center. He also owned Bob’s Feed Shed until his retirement.
In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, especially “coon” with his faithful dogs. After retirement, he spent time helping his sons, and later his nephews, with their farming.
Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church. Before moving to Aledo, he held positions at Providence Baptist Church in Illinois City. Among those were deacon, trustee and Sunday School Superintendent. He enjoyed planning and cooking for times of fellowship at Providence.
His family was very important to him, and he enjoyed following all of the activities his children and grandchildren took part in. The great grandchildren were a special delight to him.
Robert is survived by his wife, Myrna; son Samuel (Robin); daughters, Brenda (Bobby) Osborne and Annie (Scott) Rector; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Kay Sell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Daniel, one great granddaughter, Emily and his brother, Richard.
