He was chief of the Estate and Auction Department at Browns of Chester Ltd. He lived at Braemar, 65 Brook Lane, Chester. He had been out on an important valuation at Knutsford when he complained to his work colleague of feeling unwell. He died soon afterwards, aged 61 yrs. He was buried on the 28th October 1940.
