She graduated from Stroudsburg High School, Class of 1939, and served as a justice of the peace, a nursing home administrator, the director of the East Stroudsburg Senior Center, and was a past president and lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars 2540 in Stroudsburg. She moved to Nevada to be with her daughter in 2000, after her husband passed in 1999.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benny Macklin and Amanda (Priest) Macklin; her husband, Willoughby H. Adams; her daughter, Marjorie Seese; and her sisters: Betty Swineford, Helen Dymond, Leetta Alexander and Gertrude Simpson.
She is survived by her sisters, Elsie Beaver and Leila Komenko; her daughter, Jean Adams; her son, W. Thomas Adams; her grandchildren: David and Diane George, and Chad Schwartz and Christopher Adams; and nieces and a nephew.
Interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg. A memorial service and celebration of Iva’s life will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at East Stroudsburg Methodist Church, 83 S. Courtland St., East Stroudsburg.
