Dorothy L. Rogers age 83 of McCook, NE passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at her home. She was born in Smithfield, NE on April 10, 1933 to Frank L. and Elsie (Brecks) Lockhart. Dorothy attended school and graduated from McCook High School in 1951. She continued her education at McCook Community College graduating with a Business Degree in 1953.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert E. Rogers in McCook on January 10, 1954. He preceded her in death. To this union three children were born: DeLinn, Linda and Cheryl.
Dorothy worked at Northwest Bell, Woolworth's, and as a bookkeeper for Hormel and Howard Kool Chevrolet for over 30 years. She also worked at Mac's drive-in for 10 years.
She was a 4-H leader and assisted with the blood mobile for 15 years. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, crafting and quilting and belonged to the Piecemaker's Quilt Guild. She loved to help neighbors, friends and anyone that needed to get to an appointment or run errands. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and served as the contribution secretary for many years.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Frank and Elsie; brother-in-laws Norman Day and Dean Rowlison; niece Angie Hofmann.
She is survived by her son: DeLinn Rogers of Bermuda Dunes, CA; her daughters: Linda Rogers and husband Brett Sanders of Los Angeles, CA; Cheryl and husband Lindsey Higgins of Onalaska, WI; her sisters: Joan Day of Miller, NE; Jean Rowlison of Central City, NE; Sandra and husband Tom Hofmann of Havana, FL along with nieces, nephews, her favorite grand-nephew David and many loving friends.
