He was a native of Yancey County. Ryan had a heart of gold and would help anyone. Always making people laugh and had never meet a stranger. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
He is survived by his parents; Nicky and Mike Gortney of Burnsville; maternal grandparents; Dean and Linda Hensley of Burnsville; sister, Katlyn Gouge of Burnsville; step-sisters: Nicole Gortney of Burnsville and Leighanne Boggs and husband Kenny of Woodfin; special niece, Drea Labdon; special nephew, Grayson Labdon both of Burnsville; cousins: Isaac Hensley and Makenzie Hensley; best friends: Tony and Daniel and special uncle Rick Hensley and wife Hannah.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday June, 28th , 2020 in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. Pastor Rick Hensley will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Hunter Cemetery.
