Karen A. Robison, 73, Altoona, passed away Friday at UPMC Altoona, following an extended illness. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Robert and Virginia (Hauser) Keith. She married Barry D. Robison on July 9, 1966 in Tipton.

Surviving are her husband; a son, Kirk Robison; a daughter, Michele Eyer; four grandchildren: Susan Martino, Quincy Robison, Jaden Robison, Terryn Eyer; two great-grandchildren: Korbyn and Noah Clifford; and a sister, Robin (Ted) Ziegler of Brunswick, GA.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Keith.

Karen was a 1964 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High School and worked as a sales rep for Blackwell/Stevens from 1984-1994. From 1995-2008 her and her husband went to estate sales and auctions and bought antiques. With their inventory she started a successful online auction business along with renting space at the Graystone Galleria in Bedford to sell them. She was extremely talented and had a gift for interior design which she dabbled with on the side. She was doing DIY before anyone even used that term. She could make anything look good.

Karen had a strong compassion for animals. When she saw neglect and received no help from the law, she took matters into her own hands. She would march right into strangers’ yards with bales of hay to keep them warm. She would also bring food and gallons of water and bowls. She even found ways to make sure they had some type of shelter from the sun or rain or snow. She did not care one bit if she got in trouble either. Lastly, she enjoyed doing genealogy research with her daughter, Michele. She used to trudge through old cemeteries and courthouses through various counties in Pennsylvania. She always did love a mystery and genealogy definitely has a lot of that.

In conclusion she was the most amazing Mom in the world and was truly the most selfless person. She always put those she loved before herself. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone and she never ever had an enemy. That is so very rare to find in people.

Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Karen’s memory to Mending Hearts Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 97, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
