Larry Thomas Franklin, 68, died of pancreatic cancer on Friday, June 26, 2020. Larry graduated from James A. Sperry high School in Henrietta, New York, and he went on to attend Missouri Valley College, graduating in 1975. He later received an MPH degree with emphasis in Health Policy and Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. Larry worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for 25 years as a Disease Intervention Specialist, Program Coordinator, Sr. Public Health Advisor, Program Advisor and Project Officer retiring in October 2013. He was asked once during an interview with Dean Mason at CDC's National Immunization Program what would he like on his tombstone. After some thought Larry's response was 'He made a difference.' His best friend Sammy preceded him in death June 20, 2020. Larry was survived by his wife, Nancy Caroline Hobson; his brother, Joseph R. Franklin Jr., and wife Mary of Cedar Creek, Texas; brother, Richard A. Franklin and wife Winnie of Hilton, New York; along with nieces and nephews.
