CENTRAL BRIDGE - Alfred C. Merklen, 44, of Sloansville, died unexpectedly yesterday at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady.
A NATIVE of Brooklyn, he had operated a farm in the Central Bridge area since 1955. Mr. Merklen was a World war II veteran and belonged to the Schoharie legion.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Graff Merklen; one son, Arthur Merklen; a daughter, Christine Merklen ; one grandchild; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Merklen, Stanford, Conn.; and two brothers, Kenneth Merklen of Carmel and William Merklen of Stanford.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Clark funeral home with Rev. G. Oliver Sands, pastor emeritus of Bethany Lutheran Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Sloansville Valley cemetery. The funeral home will be open from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
