Patrick McDaniel, 52, of Granite Falls, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at the Granite Falls Manor.

Funeral services were held on Monday, October 3, 2011, at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church.

Patrick D. McDaniel was born March 27, 1959, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the son of A.D. “Mac” and Lavern (Sundermann) McDaniel. He was baptized at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls in 1959 and confirmed at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Watertown, South Dakota. As a young boy he enjoyed living on the farm and playing cowboys with his brothers. He was a member of the Altamont 4-H Club where he enjoyed showing livestock and going to the state fair. He was also a member of the FFA in high school and held numerous offices. He graduated from Clear Lake, South Dakota High School in 1977. He went on to attend Minnesota West Technical College in Granite Falls and studied Fluid Power Technology. While in college he was president of the Fluid Power Club and won several awards. Following graduation he moved to Ohio to work for N.J. Fauver Company. He was an award winning salesman and was innovative and inventive in making machines work and labor easier and more effective. In 1998, he transferred back to Granite Falls to work for Sunsource/Fauver. He retired on disability in 2003.

Pat was united in marriage to Kathy Schulte in 1980 and they were divorced in 1989. He married Carol Carroll in 1990 and they were blessed with one child Nicole in 1991. Pat was a loving and caring father to Chris and Carli Cooper from Carol’s previous marriage. They divorced in 2010.
Pat was very happy with his life and career. He enjoyed golf but was never very good at it. He loved to share his love for cooking with friends and people in the community. He spent many evenings staying up watching infomercials and buying cooking utensils when he couldn’t sleep. He was a member of the Granite Falls Lutheran Church and shared his strong faith by visiting the elderly and buying extra food to donate to the food shelf. His children and grandchild were the light of his life. Babysitting his grandson Conner was one of his favorite activities. He will be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his mother Lavern McDaniel of Watertown, South Dakota; children: Nicole McDaniel (special friend Hesston Winters) of Montevideo; Chris Cooper of Columbus, Ohio and Carli Cooper of Marshall; grandson Connor Lange; siblings: Michael (Haiying) McDaniel of Phoenix, Arizona; Kelly (Cindy) McDaniel of Clear Lake, South Dakota; Marcie (Les) Jutting of Clear Lake, South Dakota; Linda Lindgren of Watertown, South Dakota and Kathi (Fred) Surzyshyn of Winnipeg, Canada; and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father A.D. McDaniel and a brother Jim McDaniel.

Funeral arrangements were with the Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Granite Falls.
