Nancy Caroline Faulkner Horne passed away Friday, 26 June 2020, following a short hospitalization as a result of a fall at her home. Nancy was born February 20, 1945, in Morrilton, Arkansas. Though her family were early settlers of Russellville, there was a snowstorm the day of her birth and the Russellville Hospital was closed, so her Father drove her Mother to Morrilton to the closest open hospital.
Nancy graduated from Russellville High School and then received a degree in accounting from Arkansas Tech University. She spent years in Dallas, TX where she started, owned and managed Panache’, a women’s clothing store. She also spent time in commercial real estate and with a group that managed Hilton Hotels.
Soon after returning to her native Arkansas, Nancy met and married the late Allan W. “Dick” Horne in Little Rock. The two shared a love of travel and horse racing and could be found at the Oaklawn Jockey Club during many weeks of the racing season in Arkansas.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Rachel (Apple) Faulkner; and husband, Allan W. “Dick” Horne.
She is survived by her sister, Suzanne F. Harmon (Bill); niece, Susan Franklin Newton of Russellville; great-niece, Morgan Newton Ramey (Clay) and their son, William, great-nephew, Michael Newton, both of Little Rock; nephew, Bobby Franklin (Julia), great-nephews, Alex Franklin and Nicholas Franklin and great-niece, Ava Grace Franklin, Stephen Harmon (Susan) all of Arlington, VA; Kirk Harmon (Sarah) of Lake Charles, LA; and the daughters of Dick Horne, Jennifer Horne (Don Noble) of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Mary Horne (Ben Johnson) of Little Rock.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to all those who showed their love for Nancy and concern for her health, especially lifelong close and caring friend, Todd Sweeden of Russellville.
A graveside service is planned for 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 2, 2020, at the Columbarium in Oakland Cemetery, Russellville officiated by the Rev. Tony Griffin and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Memorials may be made to Arkansas Tech Foundation, 1509 North Boulder Ave., Room 209, Russellville, Arkansas 72801, Manna House at First United Methodist Church, Russellville, and the The Van, 4500 W 61st St, Little Rock, AR 72209.
