Edward Tillman, 69, departed this life on June 23, 2020, at Mainland Center Hospital

His family will have a visitation for Edward on Wednesday, July 1st from 9-11 AM, at Fields-Johnson Family Mortuary. Graveside service will be held at Rising Star Cemetery with Rev. E. R. Johnson officiating.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruby Tillman; sons, Edward Tillman, Jr., Curtis Mark, Sr. (Shana); daughter, Markisha Chachere; sisters, Sandra Thomas (Reginald), Diana Cockrell, and Linda Tillman; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; devoted friends, Sis. Dorothy Jones, Eric Bernard, Charles Jones and Davis Reed and a host of extended family and friends.

Edward James Tillman, Sr., 69, is now at peace with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Edward was born in Galveston, Texas, on February 3, 1951, to Teresa Cooper Tillman and Freddie Walker Tillman, Sr.

He graduated from Ball High School and afterward worked for Todd Shipyard as a printer. He also worked at Imperial Sugar. Edward was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and also attended Avenue L Baptist Church, where he was a custodian. He loved to fish and go hunting. He enjoyed family gatherings with the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Edward is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Erica Chachere, his brothers, Freddie Tillman, Jr. and Larry Tillman, Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruby Louise Tillman; sons, Edward Tillman, Jr., Curtis Mark, Sr. (Shana); daughter, Markisha Chachere “his Shorty”; sisters, Sandra Thomas (Reginald), Diana Cockrell, and Linda Tillman, Ten grandchildren and Three great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; devoted friends, Sis. Dorothy Jones, Eric Bernard, Charles Jones and Davis Reed and a host of extended family and friends.
