Mr. O'Brien was born in County Limerick, Ireland and came to this country June 11, 1862.
On Nov. 29, 1865, he married Miss Mary Moore, who survives hime.
He leaves four sons, John, Timothy, Thomas and James; two daughters, Mrs. Peter Connelly [sic], and Miss Mary O'Brien, of Springfield; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Ruchman, of Champaign; Miss Nellie Moore, of Chicago; and Mrs. Patrick Troy, of Springfield.
He was one of Springfield's well-known contractors.
The funeral was held at the residence and at the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
The interment was made in Calvary cemetery.
