Obituary

Barbara G. Allison, 83, of Pleasantville passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020 at Pennknoll Village, where she had been a patient for several months.

She was born in Pleasantville on June 15, 1937, daughter of the late Ralph A. and Mary (Crilly) Allison.

Barbara is survived by Sister- Beverly E. wife of John Gratis, Pleasantville; Niece- Lorie wife of Matthew Harris, West Chester; Niece- Joyce wife of Leslie Rose, New Paris; Great Niece Marley Allison Rose, New Paris.

Barbara attended grade school in Pleasantville, then graduated from Bedford High School in 1955. A 1959 graduate of Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky, majoring in Elementary Education and Social Studies, she received her master's degree in Education from Penn State University.

She taught at Bedford North Elementary School for seven years, at Chestnut Ridge Central Elementary School for sixteen years, and at Chestnut Ridge Middle School for thirteen years, for a total of thirty-six years.

She was a past president of the Chestnut Ridge Education Association. Barbara was a 50-year member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, and International Honor Society for women educators. She attended many of their conventions throughout the United States.

A lifetime member of the Alum Bank United Methodist Church, she served as chairman of the Administrative Board, Chairman of Missions, and was a member of the United Methodist Women.

She went on mission trips, both in the United States and several foreign countries.

Barbara enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with her family and her many friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor.

She was so appreciative for the many cards, phone calls and visits from her family and friends.

She was also grateful for the care she received while at Colonial Courtyard and Pennknoll, as well as from her longtime caregiver, Ruth McCreary.

A Private Funeral Service will be held at Jack H. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc, Pleasantville, Rev. Shane Sciliano officiating.

Interment at Fishertown Cemetery.
