Teresa A. Kosina of Schuyler Lake
February 6, 1931 - May 22, 2020

SCHUYLER LAKE - Teresa (Terri) A. (Valenta) Kosina, born on February 6, 1931, was brought home to the Lord on Friday, May 22, 2020 at the age of 89.

She was a native of NYC, graduated high school in 1949, and worked as a secretary in her early adult years. In 1957 she married Joseph W. Kosina. After the first few years of marriage, and having started a family, she and Joe moved to Brentwood NY.

In 1988 they moved upstate to Unadilla Forks, NY and built a log home, situated on 45 acres of land. It is here that Terri supported Joe's dream retirement of running a beef farm. During these years Terri spent a great deal of time watching, playing with, and teaching her granddaughter, Amy. "Grammy," as she was called, meant the world to Amy and will always have a special place in her heart! In 2003, Terri and Joe made their final move, to Richfield Springs, NY. It is there that Terri learned a bit of the bait and tackle trade, another "retirement career" of Joe's. Terri worked hard at learning a complicated digital cash register operation. She always wished that she could have one of the old registers that required using the "cash back" method! Nevertheless, she did the best that she could and with a sense of humor.

Terri held a strong belief in God, and raised her family with love and compassion. She lived her life selflessly, caring for others with a smile on her face and love in her heart. Terri saw the good in everyone, spreading lessons of forgiveness, togetherness, and strong family values wherever she went. Her motto was "treat others as you would like to be treated yourself."

Terri was active within her family and within the community. She was a class mom at her children's elementary school. As a teenager she participated in gymnastics, later on became an instructor, and gymed as an adult. Terri and Joe shared a love of soccer and he coached her women's intramural team. Terri enjoyed sharing time with friends, who she also considered family.

Terri loved going on trips, short or long! She enjoyed taking in the sights and sounds of every destination. She would try any mode of transportation, from 4-wheeler to Jet Ski, from car to plane; if someone asked her, she would go! As a young adult, she rode on the back of a motorcycle for at least a hundred miles! Never one to complain, she was constantly reminded by the driver to keep her feet on the foot rests, even though she was really too short to do so. In her later years she enjoyed going on trips with her son and daughter-in-law. On the road, on the water, in the air, or at home, wherever she was, Terri loved life and thanked God for everything she had!

Terri is survived by her three sons Bill (Jean), Jim (Marie), and Rob, her granddaughter, Amy Saxxon, nephews, Chris and Frank, and sister-in-law, Helen. Terri also leaves many, many friends who loved her as much as her family did! Terri was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, a brother Frank, and her brother-in-law, John Kosina.

In accordance with New York State executive order 202.6, due too COVID-19 precautions, a memorial service will take place at a later date to be announced. Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.
