John W. "Jack" Bachman, 80, of Stroud Township, died Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Carole E. (Edinger) Bachman with whom he shared 27 years of marriage.

Born on August 4, 1935 at home in Stroudsburg, he was a son of the late John W. Sr. and Marguerite (Rinker) Bachman and was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.

He went to first and second grades in a one-room schoolhouse; continued his schooling through the Stroudsburg School District; and then served in the United States Army.

In his early years he drove truck for Lobb Trucking in Pen Argyl and was a surveyor for Leo Auchterman. Since May 16, 1983 he was a bus driver for Monroe County Transit Authority; and he was also a part-time school bus driver for East Stroudsburg School District. As a master of trade brick layer, John built many chimneys and fireplaces in the Monroe County area.

He was an avid gardener, was known for his garlic, and was an original participant in the Monroe County Garlic Festival.

John played horn in the Keystone Grenadier's Drum & Bugle Corps; was a member of the Cherry Valley Blue Ridge Rod and Gun Club and Long Run Hunting Camp; and a lifetime member of the NRA. As a member of the American Legion in East Stroudsburg and Pen Argyl, he served as Northampton County Commander, Deputy Commander at 30th District, Past Post Commander of Post #0502, and member of the 40/8.

He was a member of Christian Life Assembly in Stroudsburg where he served as an usher since 1985 and was active with mission work and mission trips.

He had the precision eye sight of an eagle. He could see an animal in a far away field or on a hill and could spot a piece of artifact no one else would see.

In addition to his wife, surviving are two sons, Wade Bachman of Stroudsburg and Steven Bachman of Kresgeville; a step-daughter, Chrystal Jean and her husband Frederic of Manheim; three grandchildren, Samantha Bachman and Isabelle Bachman both of Stroudsburg and Lucas Bachman of Tucson, AZ; two step-grandchildren, Liam Jean and Nicola Jean both of Manheim; two brothers, his twin Russell Bachman and Ronald "Oz" Bachman both of East Stroudsburg; a sister, B.J. Bachman of Stroudsburg; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant nephew, Kirk Russell Bachman.

Viewing hours will be from 4:30 to 7:30PM Saturday, June 25, and from 3:00 to 5:00PM Sunday, June 26, at Christian Life Assembly, 2209 West Main Street, Stroudsburg.
