Slim's parents were Elmer Everett (1862-1945) and Julia Etta Wymore (1871-1903) Ellsworth. He married Gretchen Fanny Teal on September 6, 1922 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. They were the parents of 4 children; Erma Jean, Shirley Irene, Nadine Gladys and Lauren Elmer. After Gretchen's death he married Hedwig Clementine "Rose" Butryn in February, 1943 in Oregon. They had no children. Slim was a veteran of both WWI (U.S. Army) and WWII (U.S. Marine Corps). He belonged to the Masonic Lodge and was a house painter by trade.
