Chilton, WI

Frances Elizabeth Manning was called to her eternal home of love and peace on July 4, 2013. She was born in Chilton on February 28, 1936 to Martin & Eva (Birkholz) Salm, Sr. In 1957 she married Richard Manning, Sr., they resided in DePere until her husband's job took them to Eugene, OR where they lived and raised their children. Upon their retirement they returned to Chilton. Fran's religious beliefs led her to be involved in her community; whether working for church funerals, making crafts for the hospital gift shop, helping at the Senior Center or for the annual blood drive. Fran was a huge Packers fan who watched the games with a roster next to her and let a player know what she thought of a dropped ball, and pity the poor soul who called during a game only to be hung-up on. Cooking and baking for family & friends provided Fran with a sense of comfort - her Christmas candy will be sorely missed by her children. Fran also enjoyed playing cards, mainly a good game of laughter filled Sheepshead with her siblings, or Bridge with her friends. Fran will be greatly missed by her children: Richard Manning Jr. of Portland, OR, Rita (Dave) Kraemer of Chilton, Robert Manning of Portland, OR, Renee (Mike) Rosetti of Santa Rosa, CA, Roxanne Manning of Portland, OR; her grandchildren: Christen ""CJ"", Nathan (Jane), Holly (Chris), Paul (Sally), Alazar, Kathryn, Kelley, Ryan, Lucas, Nicholas, and Natalie; and her great-grandchildren: Brandon, Bristen, Raya, and Daniel. She is further survived by Lucille Salm, Dorothy Halbach, Sister Bernadette Salm, Jean Salm, Martin Salm, Jr., Norma Salm, Ray (Kathy) Salm, Edgar (Carol) Salm, Larry (Nicky) Salm, Barb (Perry) Wood, Lou (Sandy) Salm, Mary (Gary) Bartels; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Fran was preceded in death by her husband: Richard; her son: Roger; and other family members: John Salm, Arvin Halbach, Mike Salm, Margie Salm, Margaret (Augie) Reinl, Bill Salm, & Theresa (Ron) Weed. Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Larry Abler officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 am until Noon on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 when the service will be held. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Frances Elizabeth Manning. ""Life is not about avoiding storms, it is about learning to dance in the rain.
