A native of Muskegon, Michigan, Paula was a member of the local Coast Guard Auxiliary for almost 20 years and a founder of the Northampton Free Library in Nassawadox, where she worked until it was turned into a branch of the Eastern Shore Public Library. Prior to that, she worked as a medical technologist at Northampton-Accomack Memorial Hospital.
Paula was an avid collector of fine china and teapots, an accomplished seamstress, and a lifelong fan of baseball.
Survivors include two daughters; Angie Heady of Chincoteague, Virginia and Kris Shepherd of Vancouver, Washington, two sisters; Andrea Coulson of Salisbury, Maryland and Shelley Mills of Los Angeles, California, one brother, Bruce Mills of Paso Robles, California, and 3 grandchildren; Robert Heady, Kyle Shepherd and Drew Shepherd.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
