Charlotte was born with cerebral palsy, but with the help of her Aunt Betty & Bernard Hardesty she received early rehabilitation from the Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia. She learned to become self sustaining/independent as she became an adult. She belonged to the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center in Fisherville, Virginia for a while. Charlotte was the Easter Seal Poster Child for the Metropolitan Washington DC area (includes Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia) as a child and met with President Eisenhower. She participated in the Easter Seal telethon in 1975 on national television. As a little girl, she wore heavy steel braces, walked with crutches & used a wheelchair (The Shriner hospital eventually helped her to never use them again as she grew stronger.). The Shriners also helped her to learn to write clearly, dress and feed herself and communicate with her family. However, this illness can be very cruel because later in life her physical condition reversed itself. Charlotte, amazingly tolerated her limitations for 70 years. Charlotte is in heaven now with God. He called her in her sleep. She has two nieces and nephews from her sister, Mary Jo (memorial 110102517) (Mary Elizabeth, Ritanne, Paul Jr. and Walter). Her maternal grandparents are Samuel Richard Kramer, Jr. (memorial 51816320) and Charlotte Partirdge Kramer (memorial 110296355)
