Igor Daniyah Merrick, 33, of 858 Rt. 446 Smethport, passed away Monday, April 2, 2018, peacefully, at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born July 2, 1984 in Fastov, Ukraine, he was the son of, Daniel and Olga (Gorobets) of Smethport. Igor was a 2004 graduate of Smethport High School.

Igor enjoyed playing video games on his X-Box and collecting Star wars, Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Power Rangers, and Transformers memorabilia. He was a proud uncle of his beloved nieces and nephew.

Surviving in addition to his parents, are two sisters, Tannyah (Nick) Chapman, and Victoria Merrick, two brothers, Yuri (Buffy) Merrick, and Jeremiyah Merrick, and five nieces and one nephew.

Family will be receiving friends on Thursday, April 5, 2018, from 6-8pm at Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, 33 South Ave. At the family's request private funeral services will be held Rev. Lynn Gatz, Pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Committal services and burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Igor was born Igor Alexander Zlinsky in Fastov Ukraine and moved to the United States in 1995 with his mother to receive treatment for Duchennes' Muscular Dystrophy. He was adopted by Captain Merrick in 1997 and received his naturalization as a US Citizen in 1998. Igor loved to play video games like Star Trek online on XBox and enjoyed movies and going to theaters and amusement parks. Igor's biological father proceeded him in death in 2015 in Ukraine.

Igor had many friends while in high school and loved spending time with family traveling to see new places and even was a guest of President Bush at the white house lawn commemorating 9-11 in 2008. Igor is greatly missed by his family and was an inspiration of bravery in the face of pain and disease. May his memory be a blessing and may his name be written in the book of Life and Book of remembrance Mal. 3:16
