ELKHART, IN. -- Ronald LeRoy Oswalt, 72, of Elkhart, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 12:35 AM in his home. Ron was born in Three Rivers, MI to the late John W. Oswalt, Jr. and Doris L. (Lesher) Oswalt. Ron is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara (Brough) Oswalt. They were married on July 14, 1984.
He is survived by his children, Cynthia Piedra-Malagon, Kevin (Brenda) Oswalt, Cecil (Kim) Comadoll, Rob Oswalt, and Tim Comadoll; brother, Terry (Rose) Oswalt; sister, Cathy (Mark) Oswalt; 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Ron honorably and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He had an unwavering dedication for his country. Ron was also a member of the American Legion Post 143 in Bristol. In September 20, 2011, Ron retired after 42 years from Reece Products in Elkhart.
Ron was passionate about the great outdoors. He enjoyed fishing for salmon, golfing, and bowling. Ron also loved baseball. He umpired and coached little league games with the FOP for many years. Most of all, he was a family man and will be dearly missed.
A Visitation to Celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Military Honors will be rendered at the start of visitation at 4:00 PM on Friday by the U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard as well as DAV Post #19 of Elkhart.
