Bernard Leo “Dutch” Rose, 90, Stoystown, died June 12, 2017 at Somerset Hospital. Born June 8, 1927 in Reading Mines, son of Clarence and Edith Mae (Tressler) Rose. Preceded in death by parents, wife Sue, and brothers Arthur and Markel. Survived by sons: Derek and Kevin; grandson Kevin Jr.; sisters: Opal married to Donald Hagans, Kantner, Frances Weyand, Stoystown, and D. Jean Shaffer, Hollsopple; sister-in-law: Betty Rose, Gambrills, Md.; special nephew Donnie Hagans who resided with him, and several other nieces and nephews. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a Purple Heart recipient. He enjoyed fishing and boating. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service at 3 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Rev. Larry Weigle officiating. Military rites by Somerset Co. Honor Guard. Interment Crownsville, Md. Veterans Cemetery.
