Obituary of Monica Melissa Austin
Monica Melissa Montrie was born at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio on March 18, 1974. She was the eldest of three children born from the union of the late Howard “Pete” Montrie and Susan (Madison) Montrie-Haft. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1992. Monica would further her education at Stautzenberger College and Spring Arbor University studying to be a paralegal and obtaining her bachelor’s degree.

She married Jeff Austin on October 7, 2000, and the couple would be blessed with two children: Jeff Jr. and Faith. Just a few years ago, the couple renewed their vows at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Temperance. She was a loving mother, a favorite aunt; kind, friendly, and easy to get along with.

Monica was well-known for her strong work ethic and positive attitude. She was employed at the City of Maumee and Lucas County Children’s Services. She later took employment at Burkett, selling restaurant equipment, and helping many new businesses become operational. She was looking forward to starting a new position at Velocity in Holland on Monday.

Monica loved fast and beautiful cars. For many years, she visited Oak Shade Raceway in Wauseon to watch dirt track, stock car racing. She was intelligent beyond her years, often reading to further her knowledge. She enjoyed scrapbooking and one could find most aspects of her life to be organized and well-labeled. She loved dogs especially her pit bull Petey
