David Clay Burnett, 63, entered peacefully into rest on Monday, June 22, 2020 at his home in DeRidder, Louisiana. David was born to Verna Lee and Carolyn (Simmons) Burnett on September 1, 1956 in Kinder, Louisiana.
Visitation will begin Wednesday, June 24, 2020, from 3:00 PM until service time, at Sugartown United Pentecostal Church in Sugartown, Louisiana. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 25, 2020, at 11:00 AM, at Sugartown United Pentecostal Church in Sugartown, Louisiana with Rev. Tim Deason officiating.
Interment will follow at Simmons Settlement Cemetery, Mittie, LA.
David’s perfect day was spent fishing and a making his family laugh. He loved making new friends and enjoying long conversations with the ones he had. David was and will always be a great husband, father, brother and friend.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marlene Burnett; two sons, Joshua Burnett and wife Savanna of DeRidder, LA, Corey Burnett and wife Crystal of DeRidder, LA; two daughters, Ashley Townsley and husband Michael of DeRidder, LA, Brandi Dowden and Josh of Mittie, LA; four brothers, Barry Burnett of Fairview, LA, Dale Burnett of DeRidder, LA, Nathan Burnett of Arkansas, Donald Lee Burnett of Texas; one sister, Charlotte Rose Cooley of DeRidder, LA; and nineteen grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Verna Lee Burnett, Carolyn (Simmons) Burnett; sister, Barbara Fontenot; grandparents, Mollie Burnett and Bill Burnett.
Serving pallbearers are Eli Dowden, Michael Townsley, Joshua Burnett, Corey Burnett, Jonathon Savage, and Elvin Savage. Serving honorary pallbearer is Justice Burnett.
