Donna Dawn (West) Townsend, 80, died June 21, 2020 at Pineview Cottage in Harbor Springs.
Donna was born on August 14, 1939, in Petoskey, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Stella (Rice) West. She attended St. Francis Catholic school in Petoskey.
On July 3, 1965, she married Lyle Townsend. They were happily married for 54 years. Donna loved to cook and bake and was known for her famous potato salad. She was an animal lover, especially dogs and horses. Lyle and Donna liked to spend their time at their fishing camp in Canada whenever they got the chance.
Lyle served on the City of Petoskey Fire Department for many years and Donna generous donated her time and cooking skills with the "Fire Bells", a group of firemen's wives that would put on dinners and special events.
She was a very giving and generous person who will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
Donna is survived by the love of her life, Lyle Townsend of Petoskey; her daughter, Patty (Brian) Howard of Chandler Hill; sister, Beverly (the late Richard) Zink of Petoskey; brother, Robert (Pauline) West of Brooksville, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service at St. Francis Cemetery this Friday, June 26, 2020, beginning promptly at 10:00 a.m. Father Greg McCallum will officiate.
