Evelyn Marie Hale, 81, of Nederland, died Saturday, June 20, 2020. She was born on October 2, 1938, in Gueydan, Louisiana, to Dora Johnson LeMaire Benoit and Arthur Marcele LeMaire.

Family was everything to Evelyn. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved hosting family events and spending time with her son and his family which included 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was famous for making a mean pot of gumbo from her French Louisiana roots! She was an active member of First United Methodist Nederland. Evelyn also enjoyed making crafts, working puzzles, traveling around the country, and camping.

Survivors include her husband, Austin William Hale, Jr.; son, Wayne Hale and his wife, Sarah; grandchildren, Jennifer Faglie and her husband, Brad; Jonathan Hale and his wife, Rebecca; Jeffrey Hale and his wife, Brandy; Juliana Hale; Jessica Hale; and Joshua Hale; great-grandchildren, Olivia Faglie, Amelia Faglie, Ainsley Hale, and Reese Hale; sister-in-law, Lela Gardner; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Shirley Lewan, Virginia Mittchell, and Arthur LeMaire, Jr.
