Mrs. Ethel Edwards, 65, of Martin died Saturday, June 20, 2020, at West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2020, in Parham Cemetery.

Ethel Mae Edwards (Osborne) was born on January 19, 1955 and also known as "Mae Mae".

Mae Mae attended Weakley County Training School and was a member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church of Martin, Tn.

Mae Mae was born to the late Florence Wille Lee Henderson Edwards and the late John Ivory Osborne. She was the youngest of 10 children; Ernest Edwards, Robert Lee Edwards, Willie Marvin Edwards, Mary Florence Barnett, and Oddie Edwards all which have preceded her in death. She is survived by Effie Dean Gill and Patricia Ann Edwards both of Martin, TN and Annie Pearl Jones of Sharon, TN.

Mae Mae loved to play basketball but her passion and gift was softball. Her position was pitcher and was known to pitch an amazing spinning curve ball that many batters couldn't hit. Not only was she an awesome pitcher she also was named "Miss Homerun" because every time Mae Mae stepped up to the plate a Homerun would ALWAYS occur if the opposing pitcher pitched anything hittable.

Mae Mae worked at the Hearth Restaurant for several years. Many patrons came to sample her well known crispy fried chicken. She was well known in the City of Martin and was a frequent caller to the WCMT local radio station. Mae Mae was awarded the Key to the City by the Mayor because of vibrate personally & straight to the point "no nonsense" conversations. She never met a stranger.
Everyone who knew Mae Mae knew she loved to listen to music, a great dancer (the butterfly dance was her favorite), and an excellent spades player.

Mae Mae leaves to cherish her memories two daughters; Samantha Brown of Memphis, Tn. and Tracy (Kenneth "Pee Wee" Jr) Edwards of Martin, Tn., a grandson Keenan Brown, Jr aka BJ, a God granddaughter, Holly Harrison, a great grandson,Jayden Josiah Brown aka JJ and a great God granddaughter Ceptimber Lanelle Wiggins aka "Toot Toot". She also leaves 4 special Angel's Ken (Doris) Edwards Sr, Carolyn Thomas, the late Tyrone Edwards, the late Evangeline Mitchell, a host of nieces, nephews, and a special friend/sister Kathy Vincent.
