Born April 12, 1944 in Caldwell County, Larry was a son of the late George Ivey and Betty Hollar Kirby.
Larry had a nearly 50 year career as a Dental Technician at Lenoir Dental Lab.
He was an avid golfer and loved all sports, especially NASCAR and was a memorabilia collector. He also enjoyed watching TV Westerns and movies. Larry will be remembered for his quick wit and big heart.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by an infant sister Kathy, and two brothers Richard and Don Kirby.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rita Robertson Kirby; two sons, Dean and Todd; five grandchildren, Austin, Madeline, Sofia, Abby and Benjamin; a sister, Kay Shoemaker; he is also survived by numerous other relatives.
A memorial service celebrating Larry’s life will be held at a later date.
