Mary, (lovingly known as Lynn) was born September 27, 1944. She was the first daughter to the late Elmer (aka Cole Smith) and Evelyn Schmit, and sister to the late Eugene Bishop and Jeanna Schmit.
Mary met Gene McCray, the love of her life, and they married in 1962. Gene preceded Mary in death in 2009. They welcomed one daughter into the world, Geanette Lynn born in 1966. Geanette and her husband John Schmerber gave Mary two beautiful grandchildren, Cheyenne and Jaden, who were her pride and joy. Mary gave her heart to her family and friends with unconditional love. She was a wonderful grandmother and mom to whomever needed her. With a whistle on her lips and a prayer in her heart, all of those who loved her will remember her and miss her.
Her daughter Geanette and son-in-law John Schmerber along with their two children Cheyenne and Jaden, survive Mary. She was Aunt Ellyn and Aunt Lynn to numerous nephews and nieces. She was mom to David Bryant and every best friend Geanette ever had. She was a great cousin.
She became “Grandma” to all.
“Now she’s whole, now she’s young, now she’s free”
