On September 17, 1783 at Martinsville, in Henry County, she married Samuel Lawson Allen, who was a Captain in the French and Indian War, he was 51, she was 18. She and Samuel lived on the South Fork of Goblintown Creek in what was then Henry, now Patrick County. In 1793 they and their children moved to near Cedar Bluff, in Russell County on the Clinch River; her brothers Archibald and Jonathan Pater were living there. In late 1803 or early 1804 she, Samuel, and their family (along with Archibald's family) made the journey through Pound Gap to the Big Sandy Watershed in Floyd County Kentucky. They arrived on Right Beaver Creek, near present Northern and Eastern by April 1804. Samuel died in February of 1809, and Sally was left widowed with her 7 children; she never remarried. In the 1810 and 1820 census records she is found living as the head of the household, widowed. In 1830 she is found living with her son George Allen, near Eastern/Northern on Right Beaver Creek. She died in April of 1840, before they took the census that year. At the time she was still living on Right Beaver Creek near Northern and Eastern. Together Samuel and Sally Prater Allen had 8 children: 1 George Jackson Allen, Sr. (1784 - February 22, 1850); 2 William Shadrack "Bill" Allen, I (July 1, 1785 - February 8, 1854); 3 Samuel Allen, II (1787 - Before 1830); 4 Enoch "Enos" Allen (1789 - After 1810); 5Jonathan Prater "John" Allen (1790 - Before August 19, 1850); 6 Isham "Isom" Allen (1792 - Before 1830); 7 Elizabeth Collingsworth Allen Patton (1795 - January 17, 1874); 8 Margaret Whitsett "Peggy" Allen May (1797 - Before 1840).
