Mr. Gilbert passed away in his home on Saturday following a short illness. He was a native of Neshoba County and had made his home in Morton for the past six years. He was a member of the Line Creek Baptist Church and a retired grocery store operator.
The survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Trudie G. Sims of Morton and Mrs. Andrew Schaeften of Lancaster, Penn.; two sons, Thomas Gilbert of New Orleans and Jack Gilbert of Silesbee, Texas; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, W. W. Gilbert of Monroe, La.; and two sisters, Mrs. Susie Majure of Hillsboro, and Miss Estrella Gilbert of Jackson. The pallbearers were Henry Johnson, John C. Williams, Lavell Ross, Jim Mahaffey, Ben Shearer, and Ben Noel. The honorary pallbearers were the deacons of the Line Creek Baptist Church.
