It is apparent that the headstone for this John Hallum was placed long after his death, probably by a genealogy researcher/family historian. This is evident, in part, in that the death date inscribed on the headstone are for a different John Hallum than the one whose descendants are linked to this memorial. Given that the dates on this headstone reflect the dates for someone else, rather than for the Revolutionary War Patriot John Hallum who died in 1815, this brings into question who is actually buried at this location or whether the headstone simply has the wrong death date for the correct John Hallum, the Revolutionary War Soldier.

In the biography below, that was present on this memorial when I took over management, it states that William Baker Hallum was a son of John Hallum. This is incorrect. William Baker Hallum was a son of William Wakely Hallum. Note the birth date of William Baker Hallum b. 1821 - he could not have been the son of John Hallum if John Hallum died in 1815.
