Son of Col. Pendleton Isbell/Isbill.
In the 1860 census, he was age 23, unmarried and still living in his father's home.

He is said to have died in the Civil War in April 1862 fighting in the Union Army. Family trees sometimes confuse him with his first cousin, another William Isbell (1837-after 1860), the son of William Marion Isbill/Isbell (1798-1876). (See FindaGrave 211673808 .) Both were unmarried in 1860 census, so neither would be the William Isbell who died 1859 Warren Co., TN., leaving a widow Catherine Mary Taylor and one son, Zachary Rufus Isbell (1859-1949).
