WISE, VA – Michael “Shortty” Stanley, 42, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020 at the Johnson City Medical Center due to injuries from a tree cutting accident.
Shortty was a hard worker, he believed in providing for his family. He had over 25 years experience cutting trees. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. Shortty loved the outdoors, riding horses, four wheelers and motorcycles. He also loved pickup trucks. Shortty was an avid Washington Redskin, Florida Gator and NASCAR fan.
Shortty was preceded in death by preceded in death by his daughters Courtney Brooke Stanley and Michelle Brianne Stanley; and his grand-mother Avie Stanley and grand-mother Nellie Branham.
Survivors include his wife Melissa (Ray)Stanley Wise, VA; his daughters Kirstin Shena Baker and husband Aaron-Wise,VA and Madison Nichole Stanley-Wise, VA; his son Joshua Ray–Wise, VA; his grandchildren Alayna Faith Baker and Elsie Grace Baker; his parents Woody Mike and Wilma (Branham)Stanley-Wise, VA; sisters Dawn Michelle Huff-Coeburn, VA and Dreama Crabtree and husband Brett-Wise, VA; a brother Jason Stanley and wife Michelle-Wise, VA; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and a host of friends and family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Friday June19, 2020 in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Randy Carter officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of services.
Burial will following the Stanley Cemetery in the Duncan Gap section of Wise where family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
We will be following state mandated occupancy and social distance standards in the funeral home. Masks are to be worn and will not be provided by the family or the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Baker Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
