Matthew George Hoffman

May 31, 1969 to June 9, 2010 (age 51)

Matthew G Hoffman, age 51, of Tucker, GA passed away at home on June 9, 2020, after a 6-year battle with cancer which he fought admirably.

Matt had been employed as a Landscape Architect Project Manager at HGOR Landscape Architecture Design in Atlanta, GA. He was born in Denville, NJ, graduated from Aquinas High School in Augusta, GA and earned a degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia. Matt was an avid hiker and nature enthusiast. In the midst of his treatments, and throughout his entire battle, he continued to share hiking adventures and memorable trips with his family, never once allowing cancer to take away the opportunity to out-hike his wife, daughter and grandson.

His ability to identify all plants and trees in the forest brought joy to his family, even on the most challenging trails. Matt took his time to appreciate the enchanting sounds of nature. By freely sharing his heart and passion for all things outdoors, his family quickly grew to equally love walks through gardens, to waterfalls and mountaintops.

Matt was not only an outdoors enthusiast, he enjoyed watching all things Star Wars with his grandson, Avyn, and creating Baby Yoda jokes that put all other dad jokes to shame. His vivid imagination paired with his elaborate knowledge and logic allowed him to create the BEST bedtime stories each night after prayers. It also made him the man you wanted on your team for trivia. He was also a huge sports fan, particularly college football (go Dawgs!).

He was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Dolores Hoffman (nee Kroll).

Matt is survived by his beloved wife, Felicia Ramirez Hoffman, her daughter C. Valeen Ramirez, and grandson Avyn Ramirez.

Matt is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Marie Willis (Eric), Liz Lewallen and LeeAnn Lewallen. He is also survived by siblings Charles Hoffman (Coleen), Teresa Nolan (Edward), Patricia Hoffman, John Hoffman (Patrice), Mary Pancake (Dennis), Elizabeth Rachels (David), and Ellen Hoffman. He is also survived by many loving nephews and nieces.

Interment will be private at Honey Creek Woodlands at The Monastery of The Holy Spirit, Conyers, GA.

The family would like to invite friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating the life, love and friendship of Matthew Hoffman, a husband, a father, a brother and a Pape’ at their home on Saturday, June 27, 2020 from 5pm to 7pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made by going to give.piedmont.org and directing your gift to Piedmont Atlanta Hospital and selecting the Thomas F. Chapman Cancer Wellness Center Atlanta.
