Obituary
Janette "Dutta" Hancock Johnson,88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in her home in Santuck, Alabama, on Thursday, June 12, 2020. Daughter of Edward and Beulah Hancock, Janette was born in Montgomery, Alabama on July 27, 1931. She attended Sydney Lanier Senior High School. In 1950 she married Larry Melvin Poole (deceased 1987). After their son was born, Larry and Janette moved to San Diego, CA. Janette joined the Republican Women's Club. She worked on the Nixon, Ford and Reagan Presidential Campaigns and served two terms as the club president. In 1991 Janette and her family moved to Social Circle, GA. In 1995 she reunited with her high school sweetheart, Fred Johnson, after forty years. They were married the following April. Janette moved back to Alabama and joined Santuck Baptist Church. She got involved in a ladies Sunday school class, The Flea Market, and Charis Crafters. She was a member of the Busy Bee Quilters. She had a passion for quilting, sewing, and crafts. Dutta, as the family knew her, was not only beautiful on the outside but had the most loving and gentle spirit. She has met her Lord and Savior who was with her every step of her journey with Leukemia. As she took her last breath, he swept her up in his loving arms and carried her to her heavenly home where she is rejoicing with her parents, Larry and sister Betty. She is survived by husband, Fred Johnson, son John(Diana) Poole, daughter Diane(Joe) Gilbert, daughter Jody Poole, step daughter Leisa McCain; seven grandchildren Mickie(Cliff), Becca, Shayne, Kailie(Jaeh), Erynn, Emerson and Chad(Rachel) and five great grandchildren Emmie, Garrett, A.J., Kaitlyn and Hailey. She is also survived by sisters Ann Reynolds, and Barbara Beddingfield along with many nieces and nephews in Georgia, Louisiana and California. She was preceded in death by a sister Betty Argo. Graveside services will by Sunday, June 14, 2020 at 1pm in Santuck Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Randy Godfrey officiating. Wetumpka Memorial Funeral Home directing.
