He was born on January 22, 1951 to Ernest Pollard and Helen Cooklis, in Canonsburg Pennsylvania. He graduated from Canon McMillan High School on June 3rd, 1969. He attended Miracle Valley Bible College in Arizona.
Gary enlisted into the United States Army as a Chaplain’s Assistant from 1971-1974, during the Vietnam Era. He later became a certified nursing assistant and worked in the VA Healthcare system for a number of years. Gary served as a volunteer fireman and an EMT with Citizen’s Hose in Natrona Heights, PA for several years.
Gary leaves behind his daughter, Melissa (Michael) McGarvey and daughter Kiera; son Matthew Pollard; and son Michael (Beth) Pollard, and three daughters Hadassah, Abigail and Charlotte. He also leaves behind his wife Linda and her sons Chris and Rick (Maria) and daughter Emma Rose; his former wife Cindy Yingling and his brother John Kapsalis. He was preceded in death by his mother Helen Cooklis, brother Daniel Star and sister Linda Kidder.
Gary loved the Lord Jesus since an early age of 8 years old. Throughout his life, he made it his goal to spread the matchless name of Jesus and the work of His salvation on the cross. His memory as a Soldier, husband, father and loyal friend will live on in the lives of those whom he loved. Funeral services will be private at his request.
