Rick was born in St. Louis, MO, on September 15, 1948, son of Richard Leo Shelby and Marian Shelby nee Koons. On June 5, 1971 he was united in marriage to Gloria Marie Gallo and two children came to bless this union.

Rick is survived by his wife, Gloria Shelby of Luebbering; by two daughters, Tracy Ital and husband, Jeff, of St. Clair, MO and Kelly Houseman and husband, Randy, of Mt. Olive, IL; by 2 grandchildren, Noel Lynch and husband, Greg, of St. Clair, MO and RJ Ital of St. Clair; by one brother, Mark Shelby and wife, Sandy of Dittmer, MO; by one sister, Holly Hesemann and husband, John, of St. Albans, MO; by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
