DeWitt (Robinson), Nola 9/26/1930 - 5/28/2020 Reed City, MI We are saddened to share that Nola DeWitt left this earth on May 28, 2020, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease, and in her final days, COVID-19. Nola was born to Donald and Genevieve (Bowyer) Robinson on September 26, 1930. The second of eight children, Nola was raised on a farm in Hersey, MI. She attended the Hersey School and graduated as salutatorian of the class of 1948. After high school, she married John (Jack) DeWitt and they had two sons, James Rodney (Rod) and Steven Patrick. While raising her boys, she helped Jack operate DeWitt's Radio & TV, their Zenith dealership in Reed City. In the late 1960's, Nola graduated from the X-Ray Tech program at Ferris State College. She worked at Munson Memorial Hospital in Traverse City before finding her long-time job at Reed City Hospital. Nola loved her work in radiology and was a dedicated RCH employee for over 25 years. Nola's passion in life was creating handmade quilts for family and friends. Nola was known for her beautiful block patterns and flawless hand-quilting. She spent countless hours at her quilt frame, and was particularly proud of her Wounded Warrior quilts that were given to disabled veterans. Many of her treasured quilts will be handed down for generations to come. A gifted storyteller, Nola could deliver a punchline that resulted in booming laughter from her audience. She also loved antiques, a strong cup of coffee, genealogy, visiting with friends & family, cooking her famous baked beans, family reunions, watching the Detroit Pistons, doing crossword puzzles, Red Hat Society parties, following current events and listening to gospel music. More than anything else, she loved her family and heritage. Through genealogical research, she discovered that she was a descendant of Michigan pioneer, Rix Robinson, the first Euro-American settler of Kent County. Every August, Nola proudly attended the annual Robinson Family Reunion at Ada Park, in Ada, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack (May 28, 2001), her parents, Donald and Genevieve and six of her siblings, Donna (McMillin) McCarty, James, Arthur, Donald Jr., Robert and Searles. Surviving are her sons, Rod DeWitt and Steve (Sue) DeWitt, her sister, Leitha (Ken) Montague, sisters-in-law, Shirley, Donna Sue, Joanne, Norma and Marilyn Robinson, her grandchildren, Sarah (Jason) Simon, Andrew (Angela) DeWitt, Jacob (Katie) DeWitt, Adam Sackett and Nate (Jen) Sackett, her great grandchildren, Sam and Lucy Simon, and numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will host a celebration of Nola's life at a later date, when it is safe to gather, at which time Nola's ashes will be interred at Oakdale Cemetery in Hersey, MI.

I'm happy I was able to give her a passion for genealogy, and that she was able to have so many years to enjoy the adventure of seeking out more information and meeting extended family. You were my favorite, aunt Nola, and I will miss you very much. I am also honored to have created your memorial.
