He graduated from New Troy High School. In April of 1964, he married Charlene Eichorn. George retired from Pioneer in Constantine after 30 years of employment. He also previously worked for Gray Brothers of White Pigeon. He loved to garden and go hunting and fishing.
George is survived by his wife Charlene Black of Constantine, daughter Katherine (Robert) VanLew of Michigan City, IN, daughter Charlene Barnett of Zephyr Hills, FL, son Clyde (Deb) Black of Jones, son Noah (Tamrra) Black of Constantine, 16 grandchildren, and several great and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 11 brothers and sisters, son George E. Black, II, and daughters Deborah Payne and Kathleen Postmus.
Relatives and friends will be received Thursday, June 18 from 12-2 at Eley Funeral Home, Constantine. Social distancing guidelines will be enforced.
A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Constantine Township Cemetery, with Pastor P.J. Horn, Corey Church of the Nazarene officiating. Memorials can be given to the funeral home to help with expenses. Online messages can be left for the family at www.eleyfuneralhomes.com.
