~Daniel Murchison~
His father Murdoch Murchison was born in Ross-shire district, Scotland, on Nov. 27, 1771 and came to America when he was a small child (1774). With his parents, they settled in N.C.
In the same boat that brought the family was also a family
of MacIntosh and this family had a baby daughter named Lucy MacIntosh (b. 1773). She later married Murdoch Murchison.
Murdoch and Lucy later moved to Bedford Co, Tenn.
Daniel, sixth child was born 12 Jan, 1804 in Fayetteville, N.C. but was three then they moved to Tenn and grew to adulthood there.
The first wife of Daniel Murchison was Mary Killough, daughter of Thomas and Cynthia R. Pierce Killough, born in Rutherford County, Tennessee June 7, 1806. They were married on the 15th Dec., 1825. After six years as residents they moved to Houston County, Texas about 1846-1848 and established a home 3 miles northwest of Crockett near cook's Mountain. She died on the 24th of Sept, 1853 from injuries from being thrown from a horse.
All of the brothers and sisters of Daniel Murchison except Isabella moved to Houston County, Texas.
Daniel and Mary had the following children;

2. Thomas Franklin
3. Amanda T.
4. Angelina Coffee
5. Mary W.
6. Weldon Jones
7. Daniel MacIntosh (Mack)
8. Arabella
9. Lucy (died young)
Daniel married a second time to Miss Lucinda Teague of Jackson, Madison Co, Tenn. who was born 5 Jan, 1831 and died August 30, 1900. Buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Crockett, Texas.
Their children were;
1. Adelle (who died at age 8)
2. Riley Teague
3. John a.
4. Josephine
5. Lucy C. died as baby
Daniel Murchison died at his home, 6 miles north of Crockett on the Palestine road, on the 5th day of June, 1882
and was buried in the Old city Cemetery (Glenwood Cemetery).
He lived to be quite an old man and was blind for several years before his death.
He was chosen tax collector and assessor soon after coming to Houston County and records show he collected taxes in 1852, 1854, and 1855. It is traditionally said in the Murchison family that when Daniel Murchison had to transport his tax collections from Houston County to Austin,
that he carried huge sums of money in his saddle bags and made the trip by horseback. The hijacker was unknown in those days.
