Dale E. Shaw Sr., 71, of Tarentum, passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, after an extended illness. He was born March 22, 1946, to the late Walter L. Sr. and Dorothy Hawkins Shaw. Mr. Shaw was a member of Vermont Baptist Church of New Kensington, where he served as Deacon Emeritus. He enjoyed singing and sang with the Alle-Kiski Male Chorus and the Alle-Kiski Mass Choir, the Voices of Harmony and the Vermont Four. Dale loved to coach youth football. He coached for the Highland Hornets, Ar-Ken Midget Football and assisted with the New Kensington/Arnold Junior High School team. He was an avid sports fan. Survivors include his wife, Billie Jayne Hollis Shaw; a son, Dale E. (Jada) Shaw Jr.; four daughters, Leeann (Wayne) Younger, LaThea Shaw, La-Lanisha (David) Boeher and Jennifer Thomas; a brother, Rev. Walter L. Shaw; his uncle, Daniel Hawkins; and a host of cousins and friends.
Viewing will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington. Viewing will also be held from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, in Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 1150 Asa W. Roberts Way (formerly Fourth Avenue), New Kensington, with burial to follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
