Kathleen V. “Kay” Petty, 94, of Meriden, KS, formerly of St. Joseph and Oregon, MO, died Wednesday, June 17, 2020 in Topeka. Mrs. Petty lived in rural Meriden since 1999, moving from St. Joseph, MO. She was born May 30, 1926 at St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Paul Carlton and Elsie May Price Emerson. She was a 1944 graduate of Oregon High School. She was a homemaker and formerly worked as a clerk typist for an Attorney office in Oregon, MO. She attended the Seaman Community Church in Topeka. Mrs. Petty enjoyed cooking, gardening, watering and caring for her plants. She was married to John M. “Jack” Petty on December 17, 1949 at Kansas City, MO, he preceded her in death on July 5, 2000. She is survived by one daughter, a daughter-in-law, two grandsons, four great-grandchildren, and her three furry companions, Sasha, Kayla and Mitzi. She was preceded in death by her son, John Michael “Mike” Petty and a sister, Annabelle Crider.

Grave Side Services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Benton Church Cemetery, near Mound City, MO. Mrs. Petty will lie in state 1:00 to 5:00 PM, Monday, June 22 at Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa, KS.
