Lois Walters was born in Wild Rose, Wisconsin May 14, 1908 and lived in Waushara County for 105 years. She died September 19, 2013 and was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elizabeth (Jones) Walters, her sisters, Margaret, Mary, and Rhoda, and her brother, Newton Walters.

She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews, and their children and grandchildren who all looked up to her as a role model for a life well lived.

After high school graduation, she attended business school and was subsequently hired to run the office of the Wild Rose Lumber Yard. Her proficiency and dedication to her work and to her many volunteer positions in the church and village made Lois a tremendous asset to the life of the entire community. She was a member of the Eastern Star Organization, the Hospital Auxiliary, Friends of the Library, Historical Society, Women’s Club, and served on various boards for the Wild Rose Presbyterian Church. She and her sister Margaret were the living reference source for anyone inquiring about the history of the town since their memories were sharp and they kept meticulous records dating back to the 1840’s when their great-grandparents settled in the area. Lois also spent much of her life caring for her elderly aunts and uncles, her mother, cousins, friends, and her older sister. Her life of faith, service, and care-giving was both humble and significant.

A memorial service for Ms Walters will be held at the Wild Rose Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. A luncheon provided by the church women will follow. A private burial service for family members will be held later.

Ms. Walters requested that no memorial gifts be made. The family suggests that friends might pass along random acts of kindness in her memory.

The Holly Funeral Home of Wild Rose assisted the family with arrangements.
