Glenn Earl Tyler, 86, died June 11, 2020 after an extended illness. He was born at his parent's home in Pocatello, Idaho, on Friday, October 13, 1933 to Dorus Harvey Tyler and Lenora Sarah Christina Davidson Tyler. He was ninth out of ten children and had five brothers and four sisters.
He graduated from Pocatello High School in 1951 and in 1952, he joined the Navy and served until the end of the Korean War. His last assignment was on the aircraft carrier, the Ticonderoga.
Just after his discharge in 1955, he met Loa Darlene Myers on a blind date. He tripped on a step and literally fell at her feet. They became engaged in December 1956 and were married in the Idaho Falls temple on July 19, 1957. Glenn and Loa had six children.
Glenn was a jack of all trades and was always helping, fixing, or building items for friends and family. He worked for Coleman Builders, Clover Club, and spent most of his work life as an industrial food service salesman for Sysco. In his later years, he helped remodel an old warehouse on Wilson Street into business suites.
As a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he served in many clerk positions in both his ward and stake. He served for nearly twenty years as the Sacrament Meeting coordinator at Hillcrest Haven Care Center. Although he never claimed "Bishop" as one of his callings, the members residing at Hillcrest Haven seemed to see him as such and gave him that honorary title. He was also well known for the floats he designed and built for innumerable Pioneer Day parades. He was willing to help wherever he could.
He is survived by his wife, Loa, sister: Rosella (Ron) Boman, children: Lesa, Corey (Vicki), Jill (Keith Yordy), Dan (Tracy), and Jennifer (Carl Smart), 12 grandchildren: Nick, Brooke, Greg, Emily, Stephanie, Matt, Nathan, Clayton, Kallli, Weston, Spencer and Tyler, and 5 great-children: Nix, Kauis, Maisie, Haylen, and Mack.
Glenn is preceded in death by his son, Greg, his parents, brothers: Raymon, Reed, Lynn, Dale, and Ted; sisters, Louise, Ruth, and Doris.
